Control Systems Engineer – Projects

Job Description:
Provide Technical Assurance to Control Systems projects to ensure systems are designed within corporate and industry guidelines, while meeting the agreed upon customer specifications and reliability requirements.
- Ensure systems are documented according to corporate and local requirements.
- Provide assistance to Project Team to assess various project Control Systems options and help select the best fit for purpose solution.
- Develop initial scope narrative and marked up P&IDs for CSE Projects.
- Provide guidance to engineering contractor to ensure agreed upon project deliverables and specifications are met.
- Work with other disciplines (i.e. Fired Equipment Specialists, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineers) to ensure control schemes meet their requirements.
- Facilitate integration of new equipment into existing Control Systems Infrastructure.
- Communicate critical path issues to Project Engineer.
- Review/Approve the following as they pertain to Control System Projects: P&IDs, Control Narratives, Logic Narratives, Cause & Effects, instrument spec sheets, control valve and IPF valve specifications, RIE/Rack Room layout, DCS/PLC hardware specifications, installation details, field cabling and junction box layout, etc.
- Ensure that equipment specified on CS Projects are included in the approved Shell TAMAP (Technically Approved Manufacturers And Products) and utilize applicable agreements with manufacturers. Also, ensure that Control Systems equipment and designs meet requirements of Shell engineering standards (DEPs).
- Develop derogations for any system or specification not meeting DEP requirements.
- Provide Technical Assurance at system Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
- Develop project specific training for Control Systems Engineers and Inspectors as required.
- Provide technical input and review to corporate and local projects organizations.
- Provide CSE Technical Review and Technical Assurance on Project related MOCs.
