With a still lagging economy and increasing awareness of greenhouse gas emissions, many Americans are looking for ways to cut down on electricity use.

More than renewable generators, some say, energy efficiency is the more direct way to cut down on emissions created by burning fuel for power generation while also saving money.

This video, from the US Department of Energy‘s blog, explains the old-fashioned but innovative technique of “daylighting,” or ‘turn off the electricity and use sunlight.’ Although it may seem a bit kitschy, the video is surprisingly interesting and provides some unique suggestions for residential and commercial power consumers.
