It’s Women’s History Month on Energy.gov. During the month of March, we’re highlighting the great contributions to science, technology, engineering and mathematics or STEM fields made by women of color throughout history, as well as taking a look at fascinating work that women are doing in STEM fields today.

Our latest #WomeninSTEM video features Dr. Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Energy.

From working for then-Senator Biden to denuclearizing former Soviet states while working at the Department of Defense to serving on President Obama’s National Security Council staff, Dr. Sherwood-Randall has an extensive history of public service — something she strongly encourages young men and women to consider as they plan their careers. Since joining the Department of Energy in 2014, she’s visited all 17 of our National Labs, met with energy leaders around the world, spearheaded efforts on improving cybersecurity and championed joint work with the Department of Defense to improve energy security. She’s even joined the world of Twitter.
