Commercializing The Solar Rooftop

Solar companies promise that residential consumers can save thousands with rooftop solar installations. Commercial customers may in fact be able to save even more.

This Constellation Energy video is directed at large business owners with at least 2.5 acres of available land or a 100,000 square foot roof and an annual electrical usage of 1 – 1.5 million kwH.

In exchange for signing a 15-20 year power purchase agreement (agreeing to buy the power the customer’s solar panels produce), Constellation Energy says in this video it will install and maintain the solar installation for free.

Creative solutions for financing are becoming increasingly widespread in the domestic-scale solar business, although widespread adoption has been held back in part by cheap natural gas prices that have weighed in turn on electricity price increases that would drive increased renewable generation.
