The Siemens Green City Index has highlighted some of the most creative city-led initiatives to reduce consumption of energy and electricity, green city spaces, and change the way consumers think about energy.

This video shows some of the country’s major cities in action as they work to limit energy use and promote efficiency.

The Index suggests that come of the cities pictured in this video, particularly the coastal cities, may have no other choice but to begin thinking seriously about climate change and energy use.

If predictions are accurate, rising ocean levels may begin to cover their streets in water and infrastructures that are strained from rising city populations may start to collapse from the pressure.
