The House Energy and Commerce Committee has released a report touting its progress in 2011 and outlining its priorities for 2012. The document cannot come too soon, as industry and consumer advocates gear up to make progress on their legislative goals before the national elections put a stop to meaningful progress on Capitol Hill. While the sitting Congress has been criticized for how little new legislation has passed in the current session, Committee Chairman Fred Upton says that smaller government and cuts, rather than expensive new plans, are part of the committee’s mission.
