GE Energy Industrial Solutions has joined with Lowe’s to offer consumers its new GE WattStation Wall Mount Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station. Now oil firms are beginning to leverage smart grid technologies in their operations.

Saudi Armaco has begun installation of Smartcool’s ESM technology in its facilities in efforts to improve the energy efficiency of its air conditioning systems. After substantial testing with Saudi Aramco, Smartcool found that the ESM technology saved the Middle Eastern country 65,883 kWh in electricity costs for cooling. Keep reading →


A growing number of communication firms are looking towards fuel cell technology as a reliable source of energy generation, providing potential backup in case of transmission interruptions.

AT&T has joined Google and Cox Enterprises as one of the communication companies that will utilize Bloom Energy’s fuel-cell technology to power their operations. AT&T plans to install Bloom Energy Servers, known as Bloom Boxes, at 11 sites in California providing the company with 7.5 MW of reliable onsite power and also reduce carbon emissions by approximately 50% compared to the grid. Two new proposals introduced in California aim to increase solar power generation in the city.

Last week the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) announced plans to re-launch its Solar Incentive Program (SIP) with doubled funding for the next three years. In addition, LADWP proposed a new Feed-In Tariff (FIT) program that will allow third parties to sell renewable energy to LAWDP’s citywide electrical grid. Keep reading →


Arizona State University students plan to find a ‘brighter’ solution for excess dog waste in Cosmo Dog Park.

The Gilbert City Council has set up a program that will encourage ASU Polytechnic Campus students to engineer a dog waste digester for the town’s Cosmo Dog Park. Duke Energy will build a second wind farm in Kansas, the utility announced Wednesday.

Located in Gray County, approximately 200 miles west of Wichita, the 131 MW ‘Cimarron II’ will generate enough electricity to power nearly 40,000 homes, and will contribute to the company’s already robust $1.5 billion renewable generation portfolio. Keep reading →


The Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) will refund up to 10% of capital investments in renewables in the form of income tax credits, the state agency announced on Tuesday.

The incentive will be one of six the state will begin to offer as part of a larger attempt to encourage renewables development, particularly solar, in its sun-soaked desert land. The other incentives for the renewables industry will include up to $9,000 in income tax credits for new jobs created, reimbursable grants up to $1.5 million for employees training, up to 34% R&D tax credit, various funding through the “Deal Closing Fund” and significant business tax reductions.
