The energy industry – oil & gas sector in particular – is bracing itself for a massive wave of retirements over the short to medium term, which has been dubbed “The Great Shift Change.” As the industry prepares for this turnover, companies are looking to the next generation of candidates with skills ranging from finance, geology, engineering, law, etc.

Accountant – Gas Marketing 

Anadarko; The Woodlands, TX, US

Job Summary
This position is located in the Anadarko Corporate office in The Woodlands, TX and is a member of the Operational Gas Marketing Team within the Corporate Accounting Organization (CAO). The primary responsibility of the position is to support domestic Marketing and Midstream operations offices in reporting and recording accounting activities.

Qualifications

  • This position requires a minimum of +2 years relevant experience preferably in oil and gas accounting.
  • Experience in public accounting is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office usage (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with an emphasis in Excel is required.
  • This position requires strong verbal and written communication skills; the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and with external representatives; and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Additional requirements of the position are analytical and research skills, and the ability to produce results under tight deadlines.
  • The ability to multi-task is also required.

Responsibilities

  • Account for all sources and dispositions of gas in the downstream/upstream chain.
  • Balance all activity on assigned pipelines and record transactions as necessary to generate pipeline margins and cost of gas sold reports.
  • This position works closely with and provides support to the Marketing Operations, Midstream and Revenue Accounting Departments.
  • Verify volumes in gas marketing systems to pipeline statements for third party purchases, sales and transportation transactions.
  • Reconcile equity purchases to pipeline and other supporting documents.
  • Verify prices/rates in marketing system as needed for purchases, sales and transport transactions.
  • Prepare transportation and purchase invoices for payment including obtaining appropriate approvals.
  • Prepare invoices for third party sales customers.
  • Prepare journal entries for related activity on assigned pipelines.
  • Analyze monthly variances and provide explanations to management.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with the collection of receivables and resolution of disputes.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or equivalent work experience.

Certification / Licenses

CPA preferred but not required.
Grade and salary will be commensurate with relevant education and experience.

Travel Requirements

Up to 10% travel time may be required

Work Schedule
This position is eligible for the 9/80 work schedule.

Senior Business Analyst Learning

As a Software Engineer, you have the opportunity to accelerate the innovation and delivery of the Ariba products.  You will collaborate with designers, product managers, and other engineers to   expand the Ariba Cloud to cover every corner of the globe.  You will have the opportunity to work on internet scale level problems and complex business problems.  You will work with Java, HANA, Hadoop, and Ariba Cloud technologies. To succeed in this position you must be incredibly smart, passionate about the user experience and be very results-oriented to get things done.

  • Work in core components for the Ariba cloud that include persistence, meta-data model, object model framework, common data server, customization framework, UI frameworks
  • Master the art of the framework design and modeling, understand the impact of object model design in a large-scale multi-tenant on-demand environment

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent work experience
