The energy industry – oil & gas sector in particular – is bracing itself for a massive wave of retirements over the short to medium term, which has been dubbed “The Great Shift Change.” As the industry prepares for this turnover, companies are looking to the next generation of candidates with skills ranging from finance, geology, engineering, law, etc.

Additionally, lots of exciting opportunities are opening up in various renewable energy sectors as technological advancements rapidly disrupt traditional utility business models. The energy efficiency business is also growing by leaps and bounds, as significant cost saving benefits associated with using less energy are an easy sell for most businesses.

Sr Accountant – Western Gas Finance 

Anadarko; Denver, CO, US

Job Summary: This position is a part of the Western Gas Partners, LP Financial Accounting Group.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following minimum qualifications: ·

  • 4+ years of relevant experience and preferably an understanding of the oil and gas business, specifically the midstream operations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with SAP accounting systems is preferred. ·
  • Solid analytical and organizational skills with the ability to research and resolves issues effectively and communicate actions as required. ·
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with employees and managers from various departments. ·
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) skills with an emphasis on Excel. ·
  • Flexible work aptitude in order to manage changing priorities and the ability to produce results under tight deadlines. ·
  • Self-starter with problem solving skills and a willingness to take on new tasks as needed.

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and record accounting entries for various partnership activity. ·
  • Ensure accurate reporting of business operations in accordance with contracts and accounting principles. ·
  • Assist in closing and analyzing of business operation results monthly/quarterly, including research and documentation of variances. ·
  • Account reconciliations ·
  • Prepare various 10Q/10K files, tables and disclosure support. ·
  • Participate in accounting and audit projects as required. ·
  • Maintain effective internal controls within assigned level of responsibility, consistent with the company’s policy and procedures. ·
  • Work with various departments to understand financial and operational results to ensure accurate reporting.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher with a major in Accounting or equivalent is preferred. Grade and salary will be commensurate with relevant education and experience.

Certifications/Licenses: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferable

Designs Engineer 

Chevron; Kapolei, HI, US

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:  

  • Manage all aspects of construction projects valued up to $2 million.
  • Develop project schedules and prepare cost estimates.
  • Prepare appropriation/expenditure requests, and track project costs.
  • Develop contracting plans, and work with contractors during execution.
  • Prepare engineered equipment specifications, applying Chevron Engineering Standards.
  • Order materials and coordinate deliveries.
  • Identify and resolve environmental or building permitting issues.
  • Assist Operations during equipment and project startup.
  • Complete PSM (Process Safety Management) requirements including Management of Change (MOC) and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies.
  • Provide engineering support for plant shutdowns and turnarounds.
  • Provide technical support on day-to-day operational issues.
  • Perform troubleshooting, testing, and debottlenecking
  • Perform engineering and design of typical refinery equipment.
  • Prepare Engineering Work Orders (EWOs) for repairs, adding new features or functionality, and installing new equipment. EWOs may require creating or updating sketches and drawings as needed.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including process, control and reliability engineers, other technical support groups, mechanics, operators, contractors, and vendors.
  • Job necessitates driving on a routine basis.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Proven ability to interact in a proactive way with Operations, Maintenance and other internal and external groups during project development and implementation.
  • Proactive in refinery safety practices, and performs job in a safe, environmentally sound manner.
  • Candidate must have excellent attendance and safety performance.
  • Proven ability to understand and use appropriate engineering procedures, industry standards, and codes.
  • Familiar with procedures and processes for refineries or similar manufacturing facilities.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to originate and adapt to new ideas.
  • Proven ability to work without supervision and support team activities and team goals.
  • Proven ability to take ownership and lead specific team efforts, such as coordination of capital projects and HAZOP follow-up items.
  • Proven ability to plan and organize projects from inception and scope-development phase, through startup.
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be flexible and respond to refinery needs.
  • Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills.
  • Proactively communicate with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work well with other refinery groups and in cross-functional teams.
  • Effectively interfaces with Operators, Mechanics, Supervisors and Management to complete projects that meet business objectives and satisfy end-user needs.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ Years of engineering experience in a petrochemical, chemical or refinery environment
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, piping, turbines, compressors, motors, tanks, valves, controls, and power distribution is desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office applications including Microsoft Visio are desired.

User Experience Design Expert Job

What you will do

  • Study users to deeply understand their SSNiFs (stakeholders, situations, needs leading to the right features)
  • Work with product managers to understand the business requirements and help sculpt the product vision
  • Generate design briefs to ensure alignment on the problem definition and assumptions
  • Coordinate the efforts of UX colleagues supporting your projects (visual design, user research, usability).
  • Generate models that form the theoretical foundation for great solutions: workflow diagrams, flowcharts, storyboards, personas and more.
  • Work with UX design colleagues in other areas to generate more creative ideas, and to ensure cross-suite consistency and integration
  • Explore multiple design directions to envision the best possible solution
  • Create rapid interactive prototypes as needed to simulate interactions using a tool such as Axure.
  • Design UXes for web, phone and tablet
  • Work with visual designers to make the experience aesthetically pleasing
  • Work with user researchers to do up-front user research, and to validate the product concepts and designs
  • Deliver detailed specs and assets to engineering
  • Support engineering during the development phase to make sure your designs are faithfully built

About you

  • You have a portfolio of modern, sophisticated interaction designs for web and mobile applications.  Experience designing simple consumer-grade products.
  • 5+ experience designing highly interactive mobile and web applications for consumers
  • At least a bachelor’s degree in something.  (Your portfolio matters more.)
  • You have strong design intuition and a natural ability to empathize with different personas
  • You are a meticulous craftsperson with strong attention to detail
  • You know how to cut through to the essence of a problem and extract simplicity out of complexity.
  • You are comfortable representing abstract concepts visually with workflows, wireflows, site maps, concept diagrams and other models.
  • You have good conceptual and big-picture design skills including: user experience architecture, information architecture.
  • You have solid information design skills, and can create layouts that clearly communicate the right story.
  • You are adept at designing both macro and micro-interactions
  • You are up to speed in the latest design trends on both web and mobile
  • You have excellent verbal and written skills.  You are able to persuade others of your good ideas.
  • You are comfortable building rapid prototypes and scripting interactions to simulate the user experience
  • You are comfortable with user research and usability methods
  • You are positive and optimistic, with a constant thirst to learn and grow.
  • You can gracefully give and receive critical design feedback
  • You understand the strengths and limitations of modern web technologies
  • You are in tune with the latest interactive and visual design trends and thinking
