The energy industry – oil & gas sector in particular – is bracing itself for a massive wave of retirements over the short to medium term, which has been dubbed “The Great Shift Change.” As the industry prepares for this turnover, companies are looking to the next generation of candidates with skills ranging from finance, geology, engineering, law, etc.

Sr Accountant – Finance West Africa 

Anadarko; The Woodlands, TX, US

Job Summary
This position is located in the Anadarko Corporate office in The Woodlands, TX and is a member of the International Accounting Team within the Corporate Accounting Organization (CAO).

The successful candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance from an accredited university. Strong communication skills are required, with preference given to candidates with CPAs (or international equivalents) and/or MBAs.

The primary responsibility of the position is to support International offices in reporting and recording accounting activities.
Qualifications

  • A minimum of four years industry experience is required
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of US GAAP accounting rules
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of joint venture accounting
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to produce results under tight deadlines
  • Working knowledge of SAP accounting software preferred
  • Exhibit an understanding of accounting differences that may exist between US GAAP and IFRS
  • Strong Microsoft Office usage (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Show quality communication skills that may be required to overcome language barriers and cultural differences
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to pass on knowledge to others through training

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with International contracts (production sharing, tax and royalty, joint operating, farm in/out) and the accounting required under each type of agreement
  • Prepare accounting entries to properly reflect financials for assigned companies
  • Assist in the coordination of joint venture, statutory or internal audit review processes
  • Report unusual and/or significant transactions in accounting records
  • Assess current desk and controls processes for efficiencies, identify bottlenecks and propose improvement procedures
  • Assist in the review of quarterly (QK) and annual (10K) reports for accuracy
  • Become familiar with the specific local statutory and other reporting requirements with the objective of improving current processes
  • Provide assistance with Operations accounting and post-Well reconciliation activities
  • Coordination of documentation and information flow between operations and accounting departments, including vendor liaison
  • Provide support to Accounts Payable team
  • Collaborate with individuals representing various technical areas of expertise including Audit, Financial Reporting, Internal Controls, Planning, Tax, Treasury etc. in order to propose effective business solutions for our international subsidiaries
  • Participate in cross-training with other team members in order to become an effective backfill as needed
  • Participate in special projects as required and provide regular updates on activities
  • Assist and/or lead various training exercises to help International Accounting achieve consistency in applying procedures.

 

Certifications/Licenses
CPA or international equivalent required

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance

MBA Preferred

Grade and salary will be commensurate with relevant education and experience.

Relocation
This position is not eligible for domestic relocation.

Travel Requirements
Up to 10% travel time may be required

External Relations Advisor

 Job Description: 

Shell is currently seeking a External Relations Advisor to join our External Communications team. The External Relations Advisor provides External Relations support at the Motiva Port Arthur Refinery and related facilities, supporting the business’ license to operate and grow, to include social performance, social investment and a variety of community engagement and social media initiatives.

Senior Developer Job

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for bright and talented professionals from varied computer backgrounds to expand our team that is building the next generation products for the SuccessFactors suite. As part of the team, your responsibilities will include designing, developing, testing, and documenting software, tools, and applications for the SuccessFactors emerging product pipe. The Lead Engineer will also have responsibilities for providing technical support and mentoring of junior engineers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop and maintain software applications using state-of-the-art tools and technologies.
  • Professionally communicate and work with Product Management, Client Services and QA teams to develop and maintain products, tools and enhancements.
