The energy industry – oil & gas sector in particular – is bracing itself for a massive wave of retirements over the short to medium term, which has been dubbed “The Great Shift Change.” As the industry prepares for this turnover, companies are looking to the next generation of candidates with skills ranging from finance, geology, engineering, law, etc.

Additionally, lots of exciting opportunities are opening up in various renewable energy sectors as technological advancements rapidly disrupt traditional utility business models. The energy efficiency business is also growing by leaps and bounds, as significant cost saving benefits associated with using less energy are an easy sell for most businesses.

SAP FICO Configuration Anlayst – SAP Accounting & Finance Systems 

Anadarko; The Woodlands, TX, US

Job Summary: This position is located in Anadarko’s Woodland’s corporate office as a member of the Enterprise Services & Systems department. This is a junior-mid level position within the SAP Accounting & Finance Systems team. Position will be responsible for participating as part of the FICO team with concentration in supporting SAP FICO master data, configuration and support. Requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with employees and departments across Anadarko and in different time zones. A flexible and positive work attitude and the ability to produce results under tight deadlines is a must in order to manage changing priorities.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • 2 years’ work experience preferred; oil & gas industry experience a plus
  • 2 years’ SAP IS Oil FICO, ECC 6, EhP5 / 6, Classic & New GL experience preferred
  • Worked on 1 or 2 project life cycle implementations preferable
  • Working knowledge of integration with other SAP modules & Anadarko’s processes specifically as it pertains core accounting & financial master data – companies, accounts, substitution & document splitting rules
  • Excellent written and oral communication, collaboration and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasked environment
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to work with internal business partners to understand & define business requirements, manage expectations & implement solutions that meet business needs
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to test changes in system functionality, follow documentation & sign-off procedures
  • Commitment to detail, quality and continuous improvement under tight deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Participate as part of the SAP FICO team supporting SAP IS Oil modules FI, CO, JV, AR, MM, PM, Asset Accounting & Project Systems (domestic & international). Including, but not limited to, master data set up such as Substitutions and validations, default account assignment and GL account creation and maintenance.
  • Create and maintain business process documentation, requirements specifications, test scripts and training materials.
  • Perform analysis of business processes and identify improvement opportunities in the areas of support.
  • Participate in the SAP improvement design, documentation and testing of the interfaces between SAP and other applications.
  • Participate in testing activities by creating test plans, writing and performing test scripts; reviewing testing outcome with the business & obtaining appropriate business sign-off on new & upgraded functionality.
  • Provide second level support as required.
  • Engage appropriate ESS & Anadarko outside experts, if necessary, to resolve issues.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor Degree in Management Information Systems is required.

Accounting degree preferred.

Certification/License

CPA License preferred, not required

Travel Requirements

The percentage of travel for this position is 0-10%

Process Engineer 

Chevron; Richmond, CA, US

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Individual Work Contribution: Provide engineering support for various refinery processes including Crude and Vacuum Distillation, FCC/Alkylation, Solvent De-asphalting, Reforming, and Hydro-processing Units. Support requires answering technical inquiries, making technical recommendations, providing process troubleshooting, and developing process procedures.
  • Operations Support and Improvement: Participate in unit optimization teams to work on short and long term process improvement opportunities
  • Business Improvement Network (BIN)/Refinery Support: Network with counterparts in other refineries to leverage shared expertise. Carry out various studies to improve plant safety, reliability, and economics. Help identify gaps between current performance and best-in-class and recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Mentor/resource: Act as mentor/resource for refinery process and control engineers. Influence and improve work processes for a global refining technical system.

             

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 4 years of process engineering experience in the refining, chemical, or petrochemical industries.
  • Proven ability to effectively interface with Operators, Mechanics, Supervisors, and Management to complete projects and tasks on time and on budget to meet the business objectives.
  • Proven ability to teach control operators about optimization opportunities and technical issues related to their units.
  • Proven to be self-motivated with the ability to originate and facilitate rollout new ideas. Ability to step up and take ownership of specific team efforts. Able to proactively champion technical issues and see them through to completion. Able to handle multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to seek out customer’s needs and prioritize own work accordingly.
  • Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills. Strong ability to work well with other Refinery groups in cross-functional teams. Able to communicate technical ideas to a wide range of groups within the refinery.
  • Proven ability to mentor and teach less experienced engineers engineering principles and the use of process engineering tools.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and projects often in high profile situations.
  • Proven ability to plan and organize projects from inception to start up. Must be flexible to respond to Refinery and capital project support needs as priorities change with specific business needs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of refinery or petrochemical processes/equipment and understanding of the interaction between process units is essential.
  • Proven expertise in a key focus area like distillation, hydro-processing/reforming/etc. is a plus, but not essential.
  • Proven experience in turnaround planning or capital project work is desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental project impacts and permits is a plus but not essential.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the planning/business side of refinery is desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and basic understanding of advanced control is desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with process simulation software packages is desirable.

  • Work in core components for the Ariba cloud that include persistence, meta-data model, object model framework, common data server, customization framework, UI frameworks
  • Master the art of the framework design and modeling, understand the impact of object model design in a large-scale multi-tenant on-demand environment
  • You will be member of the core Ariba cloud engineering team
  • Work on solving scalability and performance problems

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of development experience developing production grade software
  • Strong programming skills, as well as the ability to read and code review complex code bases written by others
  • Ability to work independently and take on ownership of large projects in a very dynamic and adaptive environment
  • Excellent coding skills in Java
  • Hands on experience with at least one scripting language (ie Java Script, perl)
  • Good Database concepts and experience with at least one database technology (With SAP HANA is a plus)
  • Experience solving internet scale problems
  • Experience working on cloud (on-demand) software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
