ESS Analyst – Marketing & Midstream Systems

Job Summary

This position is located in The Woodlands, Texas office and will provide support to the Marketing & Midstream Systems team.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position must possess the following qualifications:

  • A Minimum of 2 years work related experience preferred
  • A Minimum of 2 – 5 years of oil and gas revenue accounting, midstream accounting or marketing accounting, or support of related applications preferred (Quorum TIPS, QCM, QDOD, RightAngle, TriplePoint)
  • Customer service oriented. Strong written and oral communication skills to a broad range of audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that establish and sustain close working relationships with end-user communities, ITS and application vendors.
  • Highly motivated, self-starting individual. Able to multi-task and manage to multiple timelines.
  • Strong analytical skills to resolve complex business and technical issues.
  • Proficient in collecting business requirements, developing functional & technical design specifications and documenting system processes.

Responsibilities

The primary job functions for this position will include:

  • Work with end-users, ITS department and software vendors to ensure adequate support for Midstream & Marketing Accounting applications primarily the Quorum eSuite applications.
  • Work with business users to identify opportunities to improve business and system processes, assist in developing business requirements and cost analysis for enhancements.
  • Prepare detailed functional specifications and assist on technical designs for reports, queries, interfaces, and application enhancements.
  • Lead initiatives and small projects related to the support of Midstream & Marketing Accounting applications.
  • Assist users to perform integrated testing to insure new functionality works as designed and does not adversely affect existing functionality.
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing and assist user community to maintain business process documentation.

Education

Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration required.

This percentage of travel required for this position is 0 -10%

Work Schedule

This position is eligible for the 5/40 or 9/80 work schedule.

IT Application Analyst 

Shell; Bangalore, India

Job Description: 

  • Drive for continuous improvement in IT solutions provided to business to maximize value to business
  • IT Business analysis work on project, discretionary and operational items. This would include Analysis and Detail Requirements Definition, Solution Design, Detail Functional Specification & Acceptance Criteria, and Acceptance Test Plan & Management
  • Unit, system integration and E2E process testing for new enhancements, projects and performs or facilitates change management communication to the user community on future IT solution changes.
  • Coordinate and lead minor releases, GI Scripting changes and small scale technical upgrades
  • Is accountable for the Change Management of the applications and delivers through KAS suppliers and vendors
  • Owns the Enhancements from Planning, Requirements gathering into execution. Delivers technical aspects via KAS supplier or vendors.
  • Provide L3 support, deep understanding of data mapping for in-house developed apps.
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with a number of Upstream Production business, IT and TaCIT stakeholders
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the business, E2E IT processes, applications, information and data
  • For vendor support applications the role requires awareness of the technology that is used
  • For In-House developed applications the roles requires skills in the technology used for Product developments
  • Be a functional expert for IT solutions in Mining and Upstream Production business processes
  • Support ITSO operations in security, incident/problem management, change management and other run and maintain activities as a Functional and Business process expert.
  • Champion information standardization, as well as all IT procedures and policies.
  • Assures the application meets the IRM requirements
  • Works closely with Portfolio Management and Vendors to plan and implement Releases according the business needs
  • Contribute to the development, and deployment of the solution
  • Implement, and embed architecture requirements as discussed, and received from Segment Architect, Data Architect, and landscape architect
  • Perform functional and non-functional review of planned solutions
  • Assists in functional input for Support and Transition process
  • Manages E2E Vendor relationships as Contract Holder and coordinates with other IT groups with Vendors (for local/regional applications)
  • Participate in Merger, Acquisition, and Divesture work as needed.

Desired Skills: 

  • Should have previous experience of 5 to 7 years in business analysis can include project, business process or support related work (the ideal candidate will have experience in both project and support work).
  • Should have demonstrated experience in a number of the following: Analysis and Requirements Definition, Solution Design, Functional Specification & Acceptance Criteria, and Test Plans & Management.
  • Background in technical work, including one or more of the following: databases (SQL Queries), server migrations, interface monitoring, GI Scripting, Perl/VB.NET/SQL programming.
  • Ability to work effectively and confidently manage relationships with business, other IT teams, offshore support staff, vendor staff, and peers, in a virtual, geographically dispersed and cross cultural environment.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and problems and respond in a proactive manner, handling concurrent tasks with appropriate priority.
  • Ability to influence without line management control and to deal with conflict and ambiguity effectively.
  • Be focused on working towards agreed objectives, while maintaining flexibility to take account of new challenges and changed circumstances, as they occur.
  • Positive attitude, committed to achieving deadlines and results with a demonstrable track record of delivery against targets.
  • BA Certification and/or previous experience working with the Upstream businesses is an asset.
  • This is a virtual team with stakeholders around the globe, so candidate must be independently motivated. There will be some expectation of work outside of standard local working hours to connect across time zones.
