President Obama plans to launch a new initiative to expand the nation’s solar workforce during a visit to Utah’s Hill Air Force Base on Friday, outlining his economic agenda. “The Energy Department will seek to train 75,000 people — including veterans — to enter the solar workforce by 2020, increasing the goal it set in May 2014 by 25,000.

“We’ve got to be relentless in our work to grow the economy and create good jobs,” Obama said after touring the brief tour, adding that other nations are seeking to expand their economies as well. “And that’s why we have to redouble our efforts to make sure that we’re competitive, to make sure that we’re taking the steps that are needed for us to be successful.” [The Washington Post]

Oil prices climbed Monday after Saudi Arabia increased prices for oil shipments to Asia. “The Middle Eastern nation raised the prices for oil to Asia by lowering the discount on its main Arab Light grade for May sales to Asia.

Crude prices also rose on speculation that the preliminary agreement on Iran’s nuclear development would not lead to an increase in oil supplies in a global market that is already oversupplied.

“While clearly a bearish headline, a final deal and full lifting of sanctions still faces a number of obstacles,” Morgan Stanley analysts said about the possible deal. “Even if a final deal is reached, we do not expect any physical market impact before 2016.” [The Street]

Yale analysts, with partners at Utah State University, have built an illuminating set of maps of American attitudes for each congressional district on a variety of questions related to global warming. “Most states are in the middle ranges in terms of voters reporting that they are worried about global warming. That’s a finding that can be interpreted differently, in Rorschach ink blot fashion.” [The NY Times]
