The energy industry – oil & gas sector in particular – is bracing itself for a massive wave of retirements over the short to medium term, which has been dubbed “The Great Shift Change. As the industry prepares for this turnover, companies are looking to the next generation of candidates with skills ranging from finance, geology, engineering, law, etc.

Additionally, lots of exciting opportunities are opening up in various renewable energy sectors as technological advancements rapidly disrupt traditional utility business models. Lead Project Scheduler / Planner 

Shell; Port Arthur, TX, US

Job Description:  

The Lead Project Scheduler/Planner manages, implements, and controls the overall project scheduling process from conception to project completion for a portfolio of approximately 125 projects. The Lead Project Scheduler/Planner reports to the Project Services Team Lead.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Site focal point for Primavera Project Database to manage security and integrity.
  • Deliver and maintain consistent and realistic plans and controls structures for each project. Understand the list of plans required to execute the assigned the project portfolio and their interface to other projects within the portfolio.
  • Develop the activities, logic, resources loading and progress to provide fully integrated project schedule, leading to the creation of the baseline schedule and its subsequent maintenance.
  • Develop the planning and progress monitoring procedures to ensure that each element of the project performs the processes timely and consistently.
  • Own the overall schedule monthly progress update cycle, forecast, critical path, and trend analyses. Develop status reporting framework and provide regular and comprehensive schedule status reports to Project Management.
  • Review scope change requests for the impact on schedules and the critical path of the project. Prepare reconciliation between earlier schedules and the current schedule. Consolidate the impact of approved changes and any deviations from the key project targets and milestones, including productivity monitoring and “What if scenarios” to aid project management decision making.
  • Contribute to the development of the project risk profiles and translate these into the plans using deterministic and probabilistic analysis methods as appropriate. Regularly track the schedule risk mitigation efforts, the criticality of the main paths to completion, float consumption and the release of schedule contingency.
  • Implement, ensure, compliance, and utilize the Shell standard tool, project standards, and control procedures.
  • Provide input data for and conduct benchmarking activities. Support development of KPIs.
  • Deliver close out data to enable knowledge retention (lessons learned, project data compilation) at completion of work. Maintain historical database of scheduling activities, durations, and overall cycle times.

Develop Schedule Basis to document how project plan was developed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Asset planning of onshore developments in North America.
  • Work independently to perform technical completion engineering for well design, cost estimates, project planning, operations support and review of rig requirements.
  • Ensure asset planning team is supported with completion engineering.
  • Will participate in field reviews, peer reviews, optimization studies, and local operational knowledge/experience gathering.
  • Applies Capital Stewardship principles, Decision Analysis, Risk Assessment, and Completion Engineering practices.
  • Occasional travel to field operations will be required.
  • Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 15 years completion design and operations experience, preferably land operations.
  • Knowledge of well design and completion operations, with capability to ensure safe, consistent and high performance operation is desired. Very desirable to have previous frac stimulation experience.
  • Work independently to perform technical completion engineering for well design, cost estimates, project planning, operations support and review of frac equipment requirements.
  • Ensure asset planning team is supported with completion engineering. Will participate in field reviews, peer reviews, optimization studies, and local operational knowledge/experience gathering.
  • Applies Capital Stewardship principles, Decision Analysis, Risk Assessment, CPDEP and Completion Engineering practices. Occasional travel to field operations will be required.
  • Experience in acidizing and hydraulic fracturing.
  • Must be able to effectively represent D&C in multifunctional teams.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven experience in the practice of D&C project management and performance processes (focus on performance improvement, risk management, category management).
  • Ability to direct and coordinate the work activities of suppliers, third party resources and other completion engineers.
  • Candidate must be willing and able to travel to field operation sites as needed.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with shale/tight gas

Customer Engagement Executive – West Job

Job Description Overview

The Customer Engagement Executive (CEE) has overall responsibility for the daily management of assigned customer accounts, including account management strategies and implementation plans to insure profitable growth within Ariba’s core customers.  The role and responsibilities for this position include revenue generation, account relationship management, issue mitigation and point of escalation for their assigned customers.  The CEE will also be capable of effective positioning of the Ariba value proposition in order to leverage adoption of our products and services through existing major customer agreements, strategic account planning and management of alliance partners necessary to support customer engagements.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement detail account strategies and implementation plans that identify new business opportunities within assigned accounts that will:
  • Ensure rapid adoption and enablement of the solutions
  • Increasing adoption by adding additional processes, technologies, and suppliers
  • SLA performance and customer satisfaction
  • Meet or exceed account specific revenue and profitability goals for account portfolio including but not limited to renewals, services, sub software expansion, SMP growth
  • Maintain a close working relationship with other regional business teams in support of global customers and corporate functions necessary to support all assigned accounts – primary escalation point
  • Will invite AE’s into account for closing new module sales
  • Provide pipeline and revenue reporting
  • Act as primary point of escalation for team member’s account issues
  • Provide deal structure and commercial negotiation guidance to team
