The energy industry – oil & gas sector in particular – is bracing itself for a massive wave of retirements over the short to medium term, which has been dubbed “The Great Shift Change. As the industry prepares for this turnover, companies are looking to the next generation of candidates with skills ranging from finance, geology, engineering, law, etc.

Additionally, lots of exciting opportunities are opening up in various renewable energy sectors as technological advancements rapidly disrupt traditional utility business models. The energy efficiency business is also growing by leaps and bounds, as significant cost saving benefits associated with using less energy are an easy sell for most businesses.

Executive Movement: 

Solar developer Soltage hired Shrips Ilango as Executive Vice President of Finance and Steve Goodbody as Senior Vice President of Operations and Engineering.Shrips has nearly 20 years’ experience in capital investment across international energy markets; and has managed over $6 billion in capital across energy, mining, and water sectors. She has previously worked for General Electric, the Securities and Exchange Board of India, and El Paso Merchant Energy.

Steve has over 23 years’ experience managing infrastructure projects in the semiconductor, power generation, and industrial sectors. He has previously worked for Northrup Grumman and Johnson Controls, has served on an expert review panel for utility-scale solar applications for the U.S. Department of Energy, and is a certified solar installer by the North American Board of Certified Energy Professionals.

Soltage is a full-service renewable energy company developing, financing, and operating utility-scale solar farms across the U.S. Soltage is backed by a group of investors including Tenaska, one of America’s largest independent energy companies with 11,000 megawatts (MW) of generating assets under management. Soltage has developed 30 solar energy projects with more than 75MW total capacity.

Job Description: 

  • Carry out analysis of all process streams and utilities supporting the refinery operations and hydrocarbon testing on components and product analysis in order to certify products fit for purpose to refinery customers in line with Product Supply Specifications (PSS).
  • Responsible for safe and efficient conduct of all tests in the 4 skill blocks
  • Authorized signatory for quality reports and product COQs
  • Train analysts for acquirement of the first 3 skill blocks
  • Check reports and test results in the worksheets
  • Adheres to conformance to test methods and procedure
  • Carries out checks/calibrations/validation of test equipment
  • Performs equipment set-up, trouble shooting, calibration and standardization of chemical reagents when required under supervision of the Head of Laboratory

Supply Chain Rep – Rockies Sourcing/SRM

Job Summary:

This position is located in Denver, CO as a member of the Supply Chain Management (SCM) group supporting Drilling and Completions operations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Supply Chain Management
  • Experience in Oil/Gas industry with Operator, Service or Engineering Company
  • Knowledge of Drilling and Completions operations
  • Proven track record of delivering advantageous commercial results across a variety of capital and operating spend categories
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and interpersonal skills to effectively influence change and return additional value from major spend categories
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal Stakeholders as well as with external suppliers
  • Proven ability to assess, prioritize and respond to urgent situations on a timely basis
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Strong financial analysis skills (TCO, NPV, ROR, own versus rent, etc.)

Responsibilities:

  • Develops a category profile for the commodity or commodities assigned, which includes confirming user requirements, developing category definition, and understanding the supply markets for the category.
  • Develops a sourcing strategy with Operations by assessing bargaining position, evaluating alternative strategies and selecting appropriate approaches and techniques.
  • Identifies qualified suppliers by working with Operations in determining supplier value-added capabilities.
  • Evaluates, negotiates and selects suppliers jointly with Operations.
  • Plans and implements transition to new suppliers with Operations, implements agreements and pricing.
  • Manages the assigned goods and services commodity in a way that aligns suppliers and company’s strategies and increases the opportunity for technological innovation so that the company receives the maximum value for the commodity.
  • Learns the suppliers and the markets impacting the suppliers, learns the internal and external cost and value drivers.
  • In some cases, more advanced skills will include implementing continuous process improvement (CPI), and ensuring performance metrics are developed and tracked to achieve superior supplier performance, quality and innovation.
  • In addition, this role tracks benefits, manages contracts, monitors compliance and shares technological advances with internal stakeholders.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required; Degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business or an Engineering discipline preferred; MBA a plus.

Grade and salary will be commensurate with relevant education and experience

Certifications/Licenses:

Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) is preferred.

Relocation:

This position is not eligible for domestic relocation

Travel Requirements:

The percentage of travel required for this position is 10-15% to field locations

Managing Principal, Industry Value Engineering

Industry Value Engineering was established in 2004 and has expanded to a global organization of over 400 thought leaders. It partners with customers in all phases of the sales cycle to drive value from our SAP solutions. By working with senior leaders across all industries, IVE helps shape the value proposition in the pre-sales discussions to value realization.  IVE’s globally inspires, drives, and supports SAP customers’ transformation.

The HR Line of Business Value Engineers (HR LVEs) bring human capital management thought leadership to the customer partnership, including strategic HR solution advice and expert consultation on talent-related business strategy and process improvement. As experts in cloud HRIS and talent solutions, HR LVEs are expected to develop, refine, and standardize innovative approaches, tools, methodologies, and content used in Industry Value Engineering engagements. HR LVEs will represent SAP externally and internally on line of business, innovation and value management topics.

HR LVEs drive world-class value throughout SAP’s Steps to Success engagement model.

Plan: Prioritize accounts in assigned portfolio and partner with sales leadership to develop strategy and win themes, identify the value-added team, and create a customer-focus plan. Recommend scope and project set-up to ensure on time, on quality delivery of customer solutions. Represent IVE and serve as line of business functional expert. May be required to support demand generation, pipeline build strategies, and development of scale initiatives to elevate SAP’s leadership position in the HR line of business and/or specific industry, market unit, region.

Align: Ensure alignment between key customer and SAP executives. Assess strategic objectives, innovation scenarios, key improvement opportunities and other sources of incremental economic value.  Confirm differentiated engagement with customer. Act as trusted advisor for customers. Create and deliver strategic insights to establish alignment and allow for deeper engagement.

Engage: In partnership with value-added team conduct discussions with customers via small meetings, larger workshops, or one-on-one conversations. Complete and deliver LVE assets such as benchmark surveys to establish performance baselines. Define applicable HR cloud solutions and Why SAP, Why Now message. Propose, develop, and review business case, roadmaps, quantitative benefits analysis, potential TCO/ROI, and point-of-view summary.

Validate/Close: Validate all findings and recommendations with the customer. Build executive storyline, drive customer ownership of the business case and agree on multi-year roadmap and demand. Present findings to CxO level audience.

The Managing Principal directs the HR LVEs for a market unit or region (responsibilities include but are not limited to work assignment coordination, people management/evaluation, recruiting, and detailed reporting). The Managing Principal also is the primary liaison with the market unit/region’s Industry Value Engineering, Sales, Customer Engagement, and Marketing leaders to ensure alignment and appropriate deal/event coverage.
