The energy industry – oil & gas sector in particular – is bracing itself for a massive wave of retirements over the short to medium term, which has been dubbed “The Great Shift Change. As the industry prepares for this turnover, companies are looking to the next generation of candidates with skills ranging from finance, geology, engineering, law, etc.

Additionally, lots of exciting opportunities are opening up in various renewable energy sectors as technological advancements rapidly disrupt traditional utility business models. The energy efficiency business is also growing by leaps and bounds, as significant cost saving benefits associated with using less energy are an easy sell for most businesses.

Ethical Electric adds Chris Perrault as Chief Operating Officer

Ethical Electric, a renewable energy company providing 100 percent clean electricity to retail power customers across the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and Midwest, last week announced Chris Perrault has joined the company as its chief operating officer.

“Chris combines vast experience in retail energy markets with a personal imperative to expand renewable energy and reduce carbon pollution,’ said! Tom Matzzie, CEO of Ethical Electric. “He’s a valuable addition to Ethical Electric, and he will help accelerate our growth into new markets to help customers divest from dirty energy.”

Chris will manage day-to-day operations at Ethical Electric and brings more than 15 years’ experience in Retail energy, climate policy, energy efficiency, and carbon pricing to this role.

Commercial Analyst  

Shell; Wellington, NZ

Responsibilities:

Reporting into the Commercial Manager, the Commercial/Market Analyst will be one of a team of six who manage all of Shell’s commercial arrangements in NZ including negotiation of sales agreements (gas, oil and LPGs), third party liquid purchases, existing asset governance, commercial access to infrastructure, support to exploration ventures and new business development.

The primary role will be to provide analytical tools/support and advice to the team in support of negotiations. The individual will be the primary focal point for Shell’s understanding and analysis of the NZ gas / liquids markets, which will include building/maintaining bespoke models, conducting specific studies in support of key strategic decisions, coordinating the commercial input to Shell NZ’s business plan process, and optimising short term gas sales decisions.

You will be involved in the management and administration of sales agreements, and there is potential to transition into deal-making/marketing roles over time.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be tertiary qualified and have strong experience in analytical roles, preferably with upstream oil and gas experience or alternatively a background in the NZ electricity generation market. You will have a proven record of distilling complex issues into concise summaries, managing uncertainty, dealing with imperfect information, and ‘connecting the dots’.

Your understanding of economic evaluations, risk analysis and other valuation techniques will be key to your success. Experience in trading would also be a benefit.

Chevron Corporation in Houston, TX seeks Earth Modeling, R&D to conduct in-depth evaluation & deployment of new vendor and Chevron technologies. Requires MS (or foreign equivalent) in Petroleum Geoscience, Petroleum Eng or a closely related field + 2 yrs of Reservoir Modeling exp using software platforms Gocad & Petrel, including exp in reservoir modeling uncertainty analysis, volume-based modeling techniques, structural framework evaluation, developing plug-ins in both Gocad & Petrel. Requires skills in C++ and C#, working w/ Ocean developer framework, Gocad devkit, creating automated workflows using Petrel Workflow Editor, & scripting in Gocad.

QA Manager Job

Work w/ methods/tech incl: compliance standards (ISO/CMM/FDA CFR Part 11 or related); 508 compliance tests, security & vulnerability tests, sw test tools (Quality Center/Testlink/Jira), browser tests; Web ap deploys; Ap servers (Apache, Webesphere & Oracle); PL/SQL & RDBMS; & related. Little domestic travel may be involved.  Must have Masters in Comp Sci or Info Mgmt, and 2 yrs relevant sw testing exp; or Bachelors in Comp Sci or Info Mgmt, and 6 yrs relevant sw testing exp.  May undergo background checks.
