The energy industry – oil & gas sector in particular – is bracing itself for a massive wave of retirements over the short to medium term, which has been dubbed “The Great Shift Change.” As the industry prepares for this turnover, companies are looking to the next generation of candidates with skills ranging from finance, geology, engineering, law, etc.

Additionally, lots of exciting opportunities are opening up in various renewable energy sectors as technological advancements rapidly disrupt traditional utility business models. Construction Engineer 

Shell; Port Arthur, TX, US 

Job Description:
Plan and execute capital project field construction activities in accordance with applicable premises, approved work processes, and standards in a safe, efficient, cost effective manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Works to ensure the Department’s HSE vision is infused early into project development
  • Participates in Front End Development.
  • Provides construction expertise and input/concurrence for:
    • Opportunity Framing
    • Risk identification and mitigation
    • Engineering and procurement execution plans
    • Estimate/Schedule development
    • QA/QC planning for shop fabrication
    • Design
    • HSE in design
    • Contracting and procurement strategy development for major equipment
    • Spare parts planning
    • MOC
    • Constructability (e.g. modular construction opportunities, tie-ins)
    • Maintainability (e.g. proper equipment access, workspace for maintenance activities)
    • Engineering and procurement contracting strategy development
    • Construction Execution Planning (including Logistics planning, e.g. receiving and storage of equipment and materials, transpiration and housing of workforce)
    • Decontamination, start-up, and operating procedure development
  • Is accountable/responsible for review of:
    • Construction execution plan development
    • QA/QC planning for field fabrication and installation
    • Constructability and maintainability plans
    • HSE in construction
    • Construction contracting strategy development
    • Construction schedule development
  • Works to ensure plans are put in place to realize the Department’s HSE vision
  • Same accountabilities and responsibilities as described in for Pre-FID with the exception that the estimate and schedule development are a shared accountability/responsibility between the Construction Engineer and Project Engineer.
  • Continues to provide construction expertise and input/concurrence (as required) for:
    • Opportunity Framing
    • Design
    • HSE in design
    • Spare parts planning
    • Management of Change
  • Is accountable/responsible for:
    • Project performance (Safety, environmental, quality, cost, and schedule)
    • Construction execution plan implementation
    • Construction schedule development
    • QA/QC implementation for field fabrication and installation
    • Constructability and maintainability implementation
    • HSE in construction
    • Construction contracting strategy implementation
  • Interfaces closely with the Project Engineer and others regarding:
    • Decontamination, start-up, and operating procedure development
    • Risk identification and mitigation
    • Key delivery dates for engineering package, major equipment
  • HSE Leader
    • Support Construction Department HSE vision, goals, KPIs, and work plan
    • Meet HSE accountabilities / competencies for the position
    • Ensures field activities are executed in compliance with plant orders, policies and procedures
  • Coaches / advises Project Engineer and Construction Specialists (ie Construction Coordinators)Is mindful of and continues to look for opportunities to reduce construction scope, and plan and execute with low cost / no change mindset.

Requirements:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering. Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Construction Management required.
  • Minimum seven (7) years working in a field construction environment within a refinery or petrochemical plant required.
  • Minimum four (4) years experience in the direct execution of capital projects and/or major turnarounds within the general refining and petrochemical environment required.
  • Previous experience working within the various phase gates required.
  • Broad understanding of each major construction discipline, i.e. Piping, Equipment, Process, Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, Electrical required.

Job Summary
This position is located in the Southern & Appalachia Region group with functional reporting based out of our Kermit, TX office operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in oil and gas operations, and working knowledge of natural gas process equipment is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Limited computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to work in the outdoors in extreme temperatures

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and enforce all applicable company, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct dew point testing, maintenance and monitoring of glycol dehydration systems.
  • Execute start up, shut down and maintain field equipment.
  • Perform minor maintenance on compressors, engines, pumps, controls, piping and valves.
  • Assist with pipeline pigging.
  • Assist with construction and pipeline repairs and installations.

Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Grade and salary will be commensurate with relevant education and experience.

Certifications/Licenses
Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle.

Relocation
This position may be eligible for domestic relocation. Successful candidate must have residency within a 70 mile radius of the Kermit field office.

Travel Requirements
The percentage of travel outside of the asset area required for this position is 0 – 10%.

Senior QA Engineer Job 

SuccessFactors; South San Francisco, CA, US

Responsibilities: 
* Take ownership and contribute towards various testing efforts like Functional, Security, Accessibility, Integration, Internationalization, Localization, Single user Performance and Cross browser & Cross Platform testing.
* Lead the creation and execution of manual and automated test cases for functional, regression and end-to-end testing, including both back-end and front-end testing of entire system, subsystems and interfaces to other systems.
* As part of the Agile SCRUM team, work closely with local and global software development and QA teams.
* Participate in Functional & Technical requirements discussions with Product Managers, Product Owners, Architects and User Experience teams.
* Test Case Management and Defect Management using tools.
* Create traceability and requirements coverage matrices to ensure the quality of the features under test.
* Create valid estimates regarding effort for tasks, communicate these estimates and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
* Working closely with the Build, Release Engineering and Operations team to get the code build deployed to the QA environments.
* Guide and mentor QA Team Members.

Requirements:

* BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
* 5+ years of QA experience testing applications based on Java, J2EE and web technologies.
* Understanding of complex SaaS or Cloud Computing or Multi-tenant environments.
* Experience with Agile methodologies like SCRUM and KANBAN.
* Proven experience driving the software testing process utilizing in-depth knowledge of state of art SQA methodology, tools and software development life cycles.
* Familiarity with tools like – Selenium, JIRA, TestLink, VersionOne, SVN, JAWS, SoapUI and ANT is a plus.
* Geek factor, able to speak XML, HTML, comfortable with API, web services, knowledge of how the platforms that comprise a SaaS are put together.
* Knowledge of CSS, or JavaScript is a plus
* Experience with SQL and related RDMS concepts with ability to understand data models.
* Familiarity with Linux/Unix OS.
* Experience with testing on Mobile devices is a plus.
* Knowledge and experience with multi-tiered systems, including working knowledge of web/application servers.
