Project Controls Lead 

Shell; Houston, TX, US

Job Description: 

Drive, steer, track and proactively monitor the capital controls in North America, to assist the Shell Pipeline and Trading & Supply businesses in delivering the Regional investment plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and maintain project controls necessary to manage NA Engineering Project department capital portfolio.
  • Owner of projects controls and estimating work process in North America Distribution.
  • Ensures formal admission of reviews and endorsement as projects move through the pipeline stage-gating, monitoring of overall expenditure to stay within allocated capital expenditure ceilings.
  • Provides overall cost assurance for the entire NA project program by a matrix of internal, P&T and contractor resources.
  • Monitoring and Improving Cost Performance
  • Sets, reviews, and monitors Cost KPI information for each Area in North America
  • Ensures monitoring and reporting benefits realization on a regional basis
  • Champions the controls work process by communicating its performance, the accomplishments, the success stories and the challenges that remain
  • Ensure that best practice project management (cost estimating/PAR planning and execution) discipline is being utilized.
  • Member of the Global Projects Delivery Team to develop & implement value adding initiatives to the business and Share NA leanings Globally
  • Lead the annual CAPEX planning effort as it relates to capital projects.
  • Focal point for data collection, data preparation, quality screening and timely issuance of various project controls reports and metrics.
  • Conduct project control department staff meetings.
  • Focal point for internal and external audits of project controls work processes.
  • Ensure consistency of project control activities with SAP as well as other company based financial and accounting systems.

Requirements:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Bachelors Degree required. Engineering or Finance degree preferred.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of project controls and/or project/portfolio management experience required.
  • SAP and WBS Structure experience required.
  • Previous Oil & Gas experience preferred.
  • Extensive Cost and Scheduling experience preferred.
  • Varying range of project experience preferred.
  • Previous management of teams experience preferred.

Project Development Manager 

SolarCity; Philadelphia, PA, US

Overview:

The California Project Development Manager position will be responsible for developing pipeline and achieving an annual bookings target.   We are interested in individuals with an aptitude for and interest in ‘consultative selling’ in a rapidly growing, competitive, and dynamic marketplace.   Candidates must have a strong understanding of large-scale, complex, and technical sales – solar experience and/or related energy background preferred but not required.  Understanding of and experience working with California public sector markets is highly valued, but also not required.

Responsibilities:

• Lead generation and pipeline development
• Sales of large-scale (1 MW+) solar PV systems to public sector and commercial customers in California
• Working closely with SolarCity cost estimators, project managers, and designers to prepare and develop proposals, feasibility studies, and responses to RFP’s
• Presenting to high-level decisions makers and key stakeholders at government and commercial customers
• Conducting site evaluations for potential customers
• Working with SolarCity’s structured finance department to model system economics for prospective projects
• Maintaining and expanding existing client relationships
• Contract negotiations

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of successful B2B, complex sales experience required
• Demonstrated ‘consultative’ selling experience
• Proven ability to manage projects under deadline with multiple internal resources
• Experience managing or selling to multiple stakeholders on the customer side
• Solar PV experience and knowledge preferred, but not required
• Ability to quickly learn the technical aspects of solar PV systems required
• Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
• Understanding and presenting financial analysis to customers (ROI, IRR, NPV, APR, etc.)
• Must be able to successfully  pass a pre-employment criminal, driving and drug screen
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
• Excellent customer service skills required
