Ford Dearborn Truck Plant Builds New 2014 F-150 Trucks

The 2014 American Energy & Manufacturing Competitiveness (AEMC) Summit taking place in Washington DC next week couldn’t come at a more interesting time. News of increasing US manufacturing competiveness seems to be popping up all the time, boosted by the country’s energy production renaissance that has reduced feedstock costs for many manufacturers. This is rejuvenating production centers after an extended period of decline as homegrown entrepreneurs and overseas companies make long-term investments, based in large part, on the expectation of competitive energy costs.

At the same time, the country is experiencing a seismic shift in power generation technology with renewable distributed energy sources steadily gaining market share. Solar Energy Industries Association/Greentech Media Research put U.S. utility-scale solar capacity at the year’s midway point at 7,308 MW, a 309 percent increase in two years. Wind power is also expanding and could soon even begin moving offshore. Many of the parts and components used to build out these technologies are being manufactured here in the US.
