The energy industry – oil & gas sector in particular – is bracing itself for a massive wave of retirements over the short to medium term, which has been dubbed “The Great Shift Change” As the industry prepares for this turnover, companies are looking to the next generation of candidates with skills ranging from finance, geology, engineering, law, etc.

GOM Facility Engineer – Onshore

Job Description:

Provide engineering expertise and collaborate with consultants/specialists in the assigned major technical support areas. This includes design & project engineering, contracted services, equipment specification and selection, equipment maintenance and the implementation of new technology.
Provide advise & support to the Asset Managers for a continuous and sustainable improvement in the areas of engineering and operating practices, in line with Group Policies and local legislation
Ensure the proper and efficient operation of the Procurement function within the Distribution facilities with respect to the timely and cost effective procurement of engineering materials, equipment and services for the local organisation.
Where required, represent the operating unit on local industry groups and Joint Venture Businesses.
Implement Standardisation, Planning, and Best Practice initiatives in line with Operational Excellence and regional engineering, helping Distribution in managing the business in the region.
Implement investment, divestment and maintenance activities, ensuring the proper integrity of the assets, through fit for purpose allocation.
Contribute to maintenance related analysis/reports (i.e. Planned Maintenance, Breakdowns, Maintenance Opex Performance,)

Preparation of technical, administrative and safety specification for engineering/maintenance/TAS projects.
Implementation of the Capex Plans and major inspection and maintenance activities.
Understanding and use of all the D GAME process (Projects Process, Reliability and Integrity Process, Maintenance Execution Process and Asset Information Management Process) in accordance with the Asset Management System.

This position will be accountable for providing mechanical engineering expertise in support of a safe, clean, efficient, reliable, and profitable offshore crude and natural gas transportation business. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Evaluate proper settings for pressure and protective control equipment

  • Support Asset Integrity and other risk reduction activities
  • Ensure accuracy of R&I plans, P&CD drawings and other critical documents via periodic reviews
  • Project support to head office engineering
  • Perform hydraulic evaluations
  • Manage region level projects
  • Prepare annual mechanical project budgets
  • Participate in operator qualifications
  • React to unscheduled equipment failures
  • Prepare Management of Change (MOC) documents and ensure approval(s)
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis efforts
  • Actively participate in HazOp studies
  • Participate in the review and assessment of Inspection and Maintenance procedures
  • Work closely with the Control Center to ensure reliable control
  • Available to coach technicians via phone whenever called
  • Actively participate in Safety Programs (Goal Zero, VPP Certification, etc.)
  • Ensure that existing and new installations meet regulatory requirements as well as internal and external guidelines
  • In executing these duties, the successful candidate will be expected to work in a team-based environment with field operations, maintenance, and other technical personnel. This position is also expected to work in support of various business procedures/processes
  • For the assets under their responsibility the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of engineering (Projects, integrity, reliability and inspection) and represent the engineering function to their customer, the local asset managers and operators.
  • This position requires excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization, including Senior Leadership, Joint Venture Owners, etc.
  • Communicating the integrity, maintenance and project costs, schedules and requirements to their customer (local asset operations).
  • Ability to travel in a helicopter to offshore locations.
  • Must work closely with and get technical advise and direction from the regional R&I, Maintenance and Projects Leads
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in major metropolitan traffic
  • Ability to obtain from fleet services a drivers license background certification This position comes with a Company Leased Vehicle (CLV).
  • Successful candidate expected to participate in random DOT substance screening

Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical or other equivalent engineering discipline required.
  • Minimum three (3) years engineering experience (working knowledge of ASME and API standards as well as DOT CFR Part 192 and 195) required.
  • Project/programme management skills especially in managing numerous concurrent smaller projects are essential.
  • Reasonable familiarity with IT solutions (SAP PS, CAPEX Bay, etc)
  • Positive demonstration of 5 behavioral imperatives
  • Positive attitude toward safe work practices
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot mechanical/rotating problems

ConocoPhillips Company has an opening for a Senior Reservoir Engineer in Houston, TX to work within the multi-disciplinary Global New Ventures Exploration Teams to support both conventional and unconventional exploration activity globally. Requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Petroleum Engineering and 2 years oil & gas experience in field development and analysis and exploration; performing process of exploration prospect and play risk assessment and characterization; applying decision and risk analysis techniques to projects; developing conceptual life cycle development plans including exploration and appraisal programs, field development options, offtake scenarios, production profiles, resources and well counts for frontier development opportunities.

Employer will also accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Petroleum Engineering and 5 years oil & gas experience in the skills listed above. Must possess some experience in depositional environments, reservoir heterogeneities including structural and stratigraphic, faulting, and uncertainties in structural interpretation in reservoir performance evaluations.
