Itching to drive a Tesla Model S but don’t have an arm and leg to pay for one directly from the manufacturer? You can now rent one from Hertz as part of the company’s “Dream Cars” collection if you so desire. It still won’t be cheap, starting at $400 per day and costing you $.49 cents per mile over 75 miles in a day, but if you want a chance to ride in one, this may be your best shot.

Hertz said late last month drivers will be able to rent both the Model S and also the Roadster, which it has had available as a special selection since 2011, from locations in San Francisco and Los Angeles, California. The line up of cars these two all-electric models join is a who’s who of gas guzzling speed demons offered from the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and Mercedes Benz.

Drivers who rent a Model S from Hertz will be driving the 85 kWh model, capable of around 265 miles on one charge. It can go 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds, and is the world’s first premium sedan built from the ground up as an electric vehicle. It sports a rigid body structure, nearly 50/50 weight distribution and a low center of gravity, according to Hertz, and was both named Motor Trend’s 2013 Car of the Year as well as getting the highest ever score given to a car by Consumer Reports.

“Customer and industry support for Hertz’s Dream Cars has been overwhelming, so adding the Tesla Model S to the already outstanding fleet was an easy choice,” said Mark P. Frissora, Hertz Chairman and CEO, in a statement. “The ability to offer a truly unique driving experience to Hertz customers is a thrill, and the addition of this vehicle shows the passion we have in offering the best and most diverse fleet to our customers.”
