Property Assessed Clean Energy financing, which allows owners to borrow money for conservation clean energy upgrades and pay it back over an extended (usually 20-year) period via property tax surcharges, has more than doubled since June 2011, to at least 168 projects worth $33 million. “The approach is on the verge of becoming more widespread.” [New York Times]

BP is pushing back against congressional efforts to scale back or throw out the Renewable Fuel Standard, which could shrink the market that will be served by its Butamax biobutanol joint venture with DuPont, with first production expected this year. [Bloomberg]
