The program is backed by extensive smart grid research and supported by a wide range of scientists, energy executives and lobbyists, Galvin says. The hope is to make smart grid, like LEED, a recognizable and achievable goal for power companies.
The comprehension that accompanies standards could be one more step towards building consumer engagement with smart grid and transforming consumer attitudes towards smart meters and digitized electricity management devices.
